My Experience As Your Councillor

Over the past eight years, I have had the opportunity to serve as Councillor for Ward 2 Exeter. The role is complex, challenging and rewarding. As your councillor, it is my duty to ensure that I vote for the best outcome and that the Municipality and its committees do not take on unnecessary liability. Protecting both the community and the taxpayer is a role that I take extremely seriously.

The role of a councillor is a full time job requiring time in meetings, preparing for meetings and being available to constituents. Since 2018, I have had the opportunity to serve on the following Boards and Committees with the Municipality of South Huron:

  • Committee of Adjustment (Member, 2018-2026, Chair; 2020-2022)

  • South Huron Recreation Task Force (Member, 2021-2022)

  • Exeter BIA (2018-2022)

  • Drinking Water Quality Management System (DWQMS) Review (Member, 2020)

  • Mayor’s Community Recovery Task Force (Member, 2020-2022)

  • Procedural Bylaw Review Committee (Member, 2022)

  • South Huron Heritage Advisory Committee (2022-2026)

  • South Huron Fire Services Advisory Committee (2022-2025)

In addition to collaborating with other councillors, it is essential for a councillor to collaborate with the community. Collaboration and respect are essential skills on council and committees where you are only one voice at the table. As your councillor, I will continue to develop positive relationships with council, staff and the community in order to move South Huron forward—tactfully and responsibly.
